As most of you know by now Kinfolk is a cafe with a twist. We re-direct our profits to four development projects and up to 30 volunteers help to serve tables, entertain customers and just generally make the place a whole lot more fun.
In 2012 over 70 people volunteered in the café, contributing 5,643 hours. The fun they have and the growth they experience is one of our biggest successes. Their stories and their personal growth in their roles at Kinfolk contributes greatly to our success and our ability to make distributions to the projects we support.
We made our most recent distribution of $6,947 on 27 of November 2012, bringing our grand total to $53,816.
Your bean nominations help us to decide how these funds are shared between our four project partners.
Your votes translate to:
Melbourne $1,405.96
Palm Island $1,752.61
Rwanda $1,627.71
Ghana $2,160.71
2013 holds a lot in store for Kinfolk, we are in the midst of our expansion plans, supported by the City of Melbourne. The expansion will provide more seating for our customers and better kitchen facilities for our chefs, building upon your experience. The expansion will also enable us to improve our catering menus, events and functions.
Kinfolk would have never gotten off the ground without the support of our community. Collectively our community built the café for less than $10,000. So lets put it out there again…we are still looking for support to make our expansion a success, if you would like to help or get involved please contact kinfolkcafe@gmail.com, it could be anything from the donation of skilled labour to a new oven.
